Experiencing and photographing the 2026 total solar eclipse

This video shows my experience of the 2026 total solar eclipse including video and photographs of totality.

I am not trying to sell or promote anything and only want to share the experience. If this is not accepted in this forum then I will of course remove it.

Hope you enjoy the experience.

Video taken using S24 ultra.

Equipment used:

• Canon EOS 5D Mark IV
• Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM
• Canon Extender EF 2x III
• iOptron Skyguider Pro
• Sturdy tripod
The HDR was created from a stack of 18 images with the following camera settings.

• Aperture f/9
• Shutter speed ranging from 1/4000s to 1s
• ISO ranging from 100 to 3200
• Process flow in GIMP
• Align pictures
• Stack using average values
• Stretching the image
• Enhancing detail using radially blurred unsharp masking technique
• Small saturation and temperature adjustments

Black holes can merge. But can one black hole become two? Physicists have investigated when such an extraordinary event might be possible.

Last month's full Moon, captured from my rooftop

Missed out on yesterday's full moon, (and probably today too) but still proud of this one from 28th September.

Captured using Nikon D5300, 300mm telephoto lens. 75 shots stacked on Autostakkert, best 72% on final stacking. This image is 100% zoomed and cropped to content, and some final touch in GIMP

This isn't my first attempt but this is the first time I used a decent tri-pod and software to stack and enhance the picture. Would love to capture Moon with a telescope to create the Mineral Moon. Appreciate any advice on how do I go on achieving that.

Pushed the S24 Ultra’s Pro Mode to its absolute limit at 14,700 ft in Hanle (India's Dark Sky Reserve). Still can't believe a phone sensor captured this.

Standing under the Bortle 1 skies in Hanle at nearly 15,000 feet is an experience I don't think I’ll ever get over. There is zero light pollution out there—once your eyes adjust to the dark, the Milky Way is so bright it literally casts a faint shadow on the ground.

I wanted to see what my Samsung S24 Ultra could actually do without relying on heavy AI modes, so I bypassed the default night presets and dialed everything in manually using Pro Mode.

Between the freezing Ladakh wind and trying not to breathe too hard while setting up the shot, my hands were completely numb, but seeing this pop up on the screen after the long exposure finished felt unreal. Crazy how far mobile sensors have come.
