Looking for Suggestions on Space themed "adopt a family" Christmas gift
Hello everyone!
I'm a fellow space nerd, I work in the industry as an engineer, very proud of the work.
Anyway. For Christmas this year I "adopted a family" (Through the Susan B Anthony Project, if interested.) A mother and an 18 year old son. The mother's gifts are just normal things, but I'm looking for some opinions on the son's!
I really want to make it special, as I was once an 18 year old girl who wanted to do space science, and I want to give him the encouragement I would have wanted then.
His list:
A telescope
Astronomy books
Galaxy light projector
Now. I'm looking to get it all in some shape or form. That said I haven't been in the telescope or astronomy book game for a minute. I'm looking for suggestions.
Telescope wise I want something nice, but nothing that would require a lot of space or trouble setting up. Something good but for a novice that wouldn't be hard to bring to college (if he's going, not sure). But as the implication is that they are a small family in need, I don't want to give him something too complicated that he can't use, but at the same time, not one that is crappy and from an arcade, if that makes sense. Any suggestions?
Book wise I do have one book I loved, it's non fiction and is a really interesting astronomy book. But I want to get him a few more. Anyone have good ones?
I think I am okay finding a good galaxy projector, but I won't pass up suggestions on that!
I'll probably also get him other things, like a NASA patch or something like that. I don't have clothing sizes otherwise I'd get him a hoodie or something, but I was thinking some kind of gift card for that. That said, if anyone has any other cool ideas I am all ears!
Thanks in advance!
