Why does StateFlow sometimes emit a value without updating the UI the way I expect?
I've been revisiting how StateFlow behaves in Android apps, particularly when a UI doesn't seem to react to an update.
One detail worth checking is equality: StateFlow suppresses consecutive values that are equal according to equals().
Other things I'd investigate:
• Is the UI collecting the correct StateFlow?
• Is collection lifecycle-aware?
• Is the state being mutated in place rather than replaced?
• Is the collector running in the expected scope?
For anyone who's debugged this in production, what was the actual cause in your case?
